Aegis sciences corporationIn 2008, I became Aegis’ Vice President and Director of Finance. When we decided to move the Aegis Finance Department to another facility in May 2010, I had the pleasure of working directly with American Constructors on the project. This process was seamless—on budget and on time. Currently, we are working with American on an extensive renovation of a main building, including laboratory space. American has a team of 30 plus individuals here every day doing their work while at the same time integrating themselves into our team. They are polite. They inform us of issues/challenges well in advance. We feel that they are as much of Aegis’ team as we are. Lastly, Amercian stepped up in a huge way to serve Second Harvest Food Bank and the Metro Center business community by supporting a fundraiser cookout we hosted. With their financial and personal support that included all of their project workers along with many of their subcontractors, we were able to raise $3,000 from donations during that event. Aegis matched the $3,000, and together, we served over 200 folks through Second Harvest Food Bank. –Jeff Fisher |

American Constructors Slated for an Encore of Post-flood Repairs at Nashville’s Symphony HallIn addition, John Madole and his team at American Constructors were able to come in and mobilize quickly, which was critical to preventing the damage from spreading to the upper floors of the building, and to creating a project schedule that would assure completion of the project in a timely manner. And time was of the essence if the Symphony was to contain the impact of the flood on its operations. As a result, we were able to set a deadline for substantial completion just prior to our desired grand reopening date of New Year’s Eve, and once the timeline was established, we never once worried about American’s ability to hit that target date. I should add that American, along with other members of the reconstruction team, generously sponsored our Grand Re-Opening Concert, which was possibly even more impressive than the original Grand Opening of the building back in 2006. As we entered the rebuilding process, the number one issue at the forefront of everyone’s mind was how to prevent this kind of disaster from ever doing this kind of damage again. American immediately assembled an effort among the building’s original engineering team, together with the addition of other specialists which included a hydrologist, to look at every possible means of preventing damage to the building in the event of another flood. These include adding a drainage system to the basement, modifications to our emergency power system and to our mechanical systems, ground water alarms, increased pumping capacity, and the list goes on. As the last of the mitigation items are completed over the next few weeks, we are confident that the Schermerhorn will be able withstand a flood of similar magnitude with far less damage, should such a catastrophe ever strike again." –Alan D Valentine, President and Chief Executive Officer Nashville Symphony |

New school for Coffee CountyI think Terry in particular did an excellent job of delivering an atypical design on a challenging site with a constricted schedule on time and under the GMP! He is a real asset to your team! Your team was always a step ahead of any potential problems and did a great job of communicating effectively and resolving issues appropriately. They should all be commended for their hard work, effort and dedication. Thank you and congratulations on a job well done! –Mark A.
